Cattle Management
Approximately 400 seedstock cows and heifers are AI’d each year. Yearling Cluden Newry bulls are used to follow up the AI programme.
The majority of the heifers dropped are joined each year and culled according to fertility.
The whole herd is assessed for structural correctness by Dick Whale of Independent Breeding Services.
The annual bull drop is semen tested by Ian Moreland. Dr Paul Nilon further checks the bulls for fertility and structure.
